September - Our All-Day Crop

We had a wonderful 12hr crop last weekend. We did in fact start on the Friday evening and got everything set-up and just arrived on the Saturday to continue. The Friday nights are becoming very popular and it was nice to have the toaster available for whoever hadn't had time to eat.

For a change the price included a kit and a surprise goodie bag, both which were received very well. It was lovely at the end of the day to see everyones very hard work on our 'Wall of Fame'.

We actually had 3 challenges, our monthly challenge which was anything on Autumn and was won by Sarah who made a beautiful mini-book. The second was the goodie bag challenge. Jen and myself made up Pizza like boxes containing all sorts of stash and challenged people to make something. We also encouraged people if they didnt like a certain paper to change it by using paint or sprays. Some wonderful work was done here, and the messy mats certainly came in handy. They also used stencils, punches and all sorts of dies and die-cutters. We banned the Cricut for the morning and people really went back to basics and did loads of hand drawing and doodling. The third challenge was the 'Glitter Challenge' and was a kit designed and made up by Diane Carville from the Redbourn Crop. Diane has been designing and teaching for quite a few years and produces her own kits. This glitter kit was lovely and encouraged people to use small curve ended scissors and to use their own imagination and flair to produce their own version of Diane's kit. It was great to see how people had rearranged the little glittery flowers, lines and embellishments to their own satisfaction. I will post all of the entries as soon as our official photographer has sent me everything. Thanks Liz for a great job, and yes I still want one of those lovely cameras. The goodie-bag challenge was won by Jen with Tara and ? as runners up. Our new lady Kirsty won first prize in the Glitter Challenge with Dee as a very close runner-up.

In the evening the majority had an Indian Take-away with Jackie and Peggy having kebabs. It was lovely not to have that horrible kitchen to clean up afterwards and also a cook-free evening for everyone. We shall definitely do this again.
