July Crop

Our July crop was very low key compared to the last two months. We had changed the date from the last Saturday in the month, so as not to clash with the six weeks school holidays and met on the 17th July. Unfortunately this did mean we couldn't meet on the Friday evening which was a shame as we do so appreciate setting everything up the night before and just walking out at 10.00pm to return the next day at our leisure.

Every month we have been running two swops, which have proved very popular. One is a card swop and the other ATC. We have had set 'techniques' for us all to do every month, and they have really challenged us all to try something different.

Recently one of the girls said to me she was a little unsure of using Alcohol Inks and also had never used Fimo before. Both of these mediums are planned as techniques for future months, so Alison and myself decided to take our Alcohol Inks and Fimo along to the crop and let everyone have a play.

With the alcoholc inks we used glossy photo paper and acetate and dabbled with the colours. We then used rubber stamps and Stazon and produced some very interesting results.

With the Fimo we had great fun rolling it out and shaping into buttons and all sorts of things and then baking in the oven for about 30 minutes. It was a good job that someone reminded us that we needed to take the tray out of the oven................

All in all it was a very relaxed day, a different sort of crop that hopefully we all learned from.

Here is a list of what swops we have done so far and what is to be done in the future. Hopefully in the new year we can start again with some new techniques.
